Privacy Policy
Effective September 19, 2026. Version 2026-09-19.
This policy explains what JANTOS LLC ("TownLoop", "we") collects when you use the TownLoop website, accounts and loops, and what we do with it.
The short version: people watching a screen are not tracked at all. There are no cameras, no sensors, and no audience measurement. We do not sell personal information, and we use no advertising or analytics cookies. We collect what we need to run accounts, review ads, take payments, and keep screens playing.
1. People watching a screen
A TownLoop loop is a web page playing on a TV. It does not collect anything about the people in the room. To tell advertisers how many screens play a loop and how often an ad ran, each TV's browser makes up a random identifier, keeps it in its own storage, and reports every few minutes that it is on and which slides it showed. We store that identifier only in hashed form. It identifies a browser on a TV, not a person, and we link it to nothing else.
2. What we collect
Account information. Your name, email address, and a password, which we store only as a one-way hash. We also record when you agreed to our terms and which version, and, if the link that brought you to sign up said so, where you came from (for example “tv” for the QR code on a screen, or the name of a partner site). We use that only to see which of our own efforts work.
Business or organization information. Name, kind, address, phone number, website and description. Once we verify a listing, this information is public on its TownLoop page. Do not put personal details there that you do not want published.
Ads. The pictures and videos you upload, their review history, and when they are scheduled to play. Ads are shown publicly; that is their purpose. We re-encode pictures, which removes embedded data such as camera location.
Payment information. Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number goes to Stripe, never to our servers. We keep Stripe's customer and subscription identifiers, what you bought, and payment status. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the data it holds.
Screens and devices. For each screen connected to an account: its name, its link, when it last checked in, and for TVs that were connected to it, the browser's user-agent string and a random device token stored in a cookie on that TV.
Technical logs. Like any website, our servers log requests: IP address, time, the page or file requested, and the browser's user-agent. We use IP addresses to limit abuse, such as repeated login or code guesses. Screen links are kept out of our logs.
Messages. What you send us by email.
3. Cookies
We use only cookies the service needs to work: one that keeps you logged in, one that protects forms against cross-site request forgery, one that remembers a connected TV, and a short-lived one used while a TV is being connected. A TV's browser also remembers the last screen it played, so it can resume after a power cut, and the random identifier described in section 1. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party trackers, so there is nothing to opt out of. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout pages.
4. How we use information
To create and secure accounts; verify businesses and organizations; review and display ads; connect and run screens; take payments and manage subscriptions; send service messages such as review results, receipts and notices about these policies; prevent fraud and abuse; fix problems; and meet legal obligations. We may show totals that identify no one, such as how many screens are playing a loop.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for anyone's advertising. We share it only with: service providers that run the service for us under contract, namely our hosting provider, our payment processor Stripe, and our email provider; authorities, when the law requires it or when needed to protect rights, safety or property; and a successor, if the business is sold or merged, under this policy's protections. Listing information and ads are public by design.
6. Emails
We send messages the service needs, such as review decisions, billing notices and password links. We also send a small number of follow-up emails to people who signed up and did not finish setting up: at most three, no more often than every three days. Each has an unsubscribe link that works with one click, and opting out does not affect service messages.
7. How long we keep it
Account, listing and ad data: while your account is open, and up to 90 days after it is closed, to clear screens and backups. Billing records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically seven years. Server logs: up to 90 days. Expired login sessions and TV pairing codes are deleted routinely.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, and hashed storage of session and device tokens. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires, including Missouri's breach notification law.
9. Your choices and rights
You can see and correct your listing in your dashboard. You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, to correct it, or to delete your account and the personal information with it, by emailing hello@townloop.tv from your account's address. We answer within 45 days and we do not treat anyone differently for asking. We keep what the law requires us to keep, such as billing records. Residents of states with privacy laws, including California, may have additional rights; we honor requests under them, and as stated above we do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
10. Children
TownLoop accounts are for adults acting for a business or organization. The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
11. Where data is processed
TownLoop is operated from the United States and intended for use in the United States. Information is stored and processed in the United States.
12. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we email account holders and change the date at the top before the change takes effect.
